Environmental
Lemery Greisler’s environmental practice encompasses a broad spectrum of administrative law matters, primarily involving zoning, planning, land development, solid waste management, utility regulation and economic development issues. Our attorneys represent clients before municipal, state, and federal administrative agencies and in the courts, and provide counsel to local and city governments. The Firm has sited and secured environmental and land use permits for major projects, including resort hotel developments, condominium projects, hydroelectric projects, resource recovery facilities, and other commercial and residential developments. As counsel to current and former owners and operators of petroleum bulk storage facilities, the Firm has experience in matters related to State Superfund clean-up of groundwater and soil contamination. The Firm’s attorneys work closely with hydrogeology experts and materials testing laboratories and have both settled cases and represented clients, including large oil companies, at trial to obtain a favorable and fair outcome as between the state and other defendants.
Lemery Greisler secured Planned Development District Zoning as well as SEQR approvals for the Luther Forest Technology Campus, a 1,350 acre campus located in the Towns of Malta and Stillwater dedicated to high-tech manufacturing. The Firm secured area variances, SEQR approval, and other local approvals for Six Flags Great Escape Lodge and Indoor Waterpark, a 200-suite hotel connected to a 38,000 square foot indoor waterpark, the first of its kind in the State of New York. The Firm also secured Planned Unit Development Zoning as well as SEQR approvals for Saratoga Polo, a multipurpose residential and recreational venue. Among the Firm’s many other notable environmental projects is the Lake George Forum, a multipurpose conference center and ice arena.
