In particular, due to the business nature of the Firm’s practice, our attorneys have broad experience in succession planning for closely held and family businesses. We find it fulfilling to integrate our clients’ financial, tax, and legal concerns with their desires to achieve specific goals for every stage of life, including possible nursing home expenses, retirement, and asset transfer to family members, either during a client’s lifetime or at death. In achieving this integration, our attorneys routinely prepare such documents as wills, trusts, insurance trusts, revocable and irrevocable living trusts, advance directives, and durable powers of attorney.

The Firm places particular emphasis on estate tax planning, and our attorneys have represented clients before the IRS, the appeals division of the IRS, and the Tax Court. In addition, our attorneys have prepared both federal and state estate tax returns. In the area of estate administration, Lemery Greisler’s attorneys have extensive experience filing necessary probate, ancillary probate, and accounting proceedings and have represented clients in all required estate administration and accounting litigation matters, including matters with Surrogate’s Courts throughout the state of New York.
